SWEET WILL

After a thirty-year hiatus, this cheeky, time-bending musical is back. Sweet Will transforms the Bard’s most iconic plays and poetry into a new story, rife with song and sass that strikes a powerful synthesis between old and new.
In this exhilarating hodgepodge of legendary work, we see the true universality of Shakespeare’s writing, repackaged for modern viewers in a trendy Steampunk aesthetic. Themes of love, lust, fading youth and the masks we wear permeate the words and songs of this rousing musical escapade.

“A witty, moving and often surprising romp which sustains itself from beginning to end, and, when it stops, leaves a sense of electricity still shimmering in the room.”

~The New York Times, 1985

KATLYN'S COLLECTIVE: A PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP

  • The Toronto Arts And Letters Club (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

A special ensemble reading of an original, unique collection of poetry created by Katlyn Wooder. In Miss Wooder's own words: "This collection is a representation of the immediate and sudden growth that I experienced between my eighteenth and twentieth birthdays. The decision on what to choose and what to discard in order to keep a clear narrative was excruciatingly difficult because my poetry relies either on intense emotion that I have experienced or on ideas that I encountered and explore." Under Gerald Isaac's direction, this collection is dramatized to reflect Miss Wooder's complex inner world. It will be presented in an intimate setting in the heart of Toronto's trendy Junction Neighbourhood.
